They Found Their Dream Wedding Photographer at a Wedding Show!
I met Rylie and Wyatt at the 2025 Bellingham Wedding Show. I love when I get the chance to meet couples at a show because we are able to talk in person and I really get to dive into the vision of your day. Luckily, these two really connected with me and loved my photos so they were able to lock me in for their June 2026 wedding day!
While we were planning Rylie and Wyatt's engagement session, we were deciding between Larabee State Park or Hovander Homestead. Both are gorgeous locations, but quite different vibes. Larabee State Park provides beaches, rocks, water views, and forested trails: very typical PNW location. Hovander Homestead leans into the quaint, farm life look. It is a big field that contains a classic red barn, flower gardens, and a magical grove of apple trees. Rylie and Wyatt decided on Hovander Homestead and that was exciting to me because I had never gotten to shoot there before. I scheduled a practice session with another couple there to practice and get the lay of the land, so I could be comfortable and prepared for Rylie and Wyatt's engagement session. I always want to be as efficient, effective, and fun as possible during your engagement photoshoot, so this type of preparation helps me to do just that! Plus, these two showed up in cowboy/cowgirl boots and Carhartt jeans so I think they picked the right spot for them :)
Usually, the best time to shoot here is in August or September so you get their beautiful Dahlias in bloom but, we happened to be shooting in May, and the Lupine were in bloom! Luckily, the night before I spotted a field of flowers on my way out, so I made sure we got to spend some time frolicking in the beautiful purple blooms, and it was the best way to end this sunset engagement session.
These two were absolutely glowing in front of my camera (and it had nothing to do with the golden light of the sunset). Rylie's smile was beaming the whole time, and they complimented each other perfectly.
If you have the opportunity to do an engagement session before your wedding, take advantage of the opportunity! It gives you the chance to get comfortable in front of the camera, bond with your photographer, and you get more photos during this special time in your life!
I have all of my couples fill out an introduction survey after they book me for their wedding, so I can get to know them better and serve them in the best way that I know how! This is what Rylie and Wyatt had to say:
How did you know they were the one?
Wyatt: I can always be myself around her and don’t have to change who I am. She’s perfect
Rylie: He never fails to make me smile, especially when i need it the most. I couldn’t imagine myself with anyone else.
Tell me the story of the proposal!:
It was Christmas Eve morning!! We each picked a present to open and mine was all wrapped up in a bunch of boxes!
How did you choose when and/or where you're getting married?:
I wanted a summer wedding, and our venue is right down the road from our house!
What are you most excited about when it comes to your wedding photography?:
Pictures of me and Wyatt and photos of guests having fun!
