Love Blooming in the Garden
Kailee and Benjamin chose to have their intimate wedding at the beautiful Lakewold Gardens in Tacoma: a gorgeous piece of land with blooming flowers, a blue pond, and the historic Wagner House. It was my first wedding of the year with it being in April, and we couldn't have been blessed with more beautiful weather. The forecast had prepared us for an overcast day for weeks before, but the clouds parted for the sun to shine down on the gardens while they said their "I do's".
Kailee found me through a friend referral, and so we hopped on a phone call to talk through what she was envisioning for her wedding day photography. She told me all about how her Benjamin met and started dating, and we ended up bonding over having very similar relationship journeys. We both met our husbands in middle school, reconnected with them over our birthdays (mine 16, hers 17), and the rest is history! The conversation flowed so naturally after that while Kailee described their joint passion for traveling which is why they decided to have a smaller wedding. Their priority was to save the money and go on a multi-week honeymoon to Iceland and Ireland!
I got to spend some time chatting with Benjamin on the wedding day while we were waiting for Kailee to do her final touches on getting ready and I got to hear about the proposal from his point of view. He spent a lot of time and energy making sure that it was going to be in a cool place (it was in an ice cave in Switzerland) and that they would be alone so it would be an extra special time for them. As we started taking photos, I could just tell how excited and in love they were. They couldn't stop saying "I love you" to each other and they would stare into the other eyes with such a feeling of comfort and safety.
It was important to Kailee to have their two dogs (Leia and Maya) present, so those two lovely ladies got to sit and watch their parents get married which was so special. The couples most important friends and family also got to join in on the festivities of the intimate ceremony and a waterfront dinner to follow.
I'm so happy that Kailee and Benjamin got to make their day exactly what they wanted it to be and take the trip of their dreams to celebrate.
I can't wait to hopefully capture them as their relationship grows and changes.
