This couple had a vision and wouldn't give up on it!

While we were planning Taylor and Tayson's engagement session, Taylor told me that she wanted cool architecture and gardens at the location. Thankfully, it's Spring so the flowers are bursting with color almost anywhere you go. Our original idea didn't end up working out, so we were tossing ideas back and forth until she suggested Lairmont Manor - a beautiful wedding venue located in Bellingham, Washington. I could not have been more thrilled because Lairmont Manor is hands down one of my favorite spots to take photos! It's historic, Italian inspired, and always has gardens blooming everywhere! There are endless places to take photos here and it never fails me (or my couples!)

If you have the opportunity to do an engagement session before your wedding, take advantage of the opportunity! It gives you the chance to get comfortable in front of the camera, bond with your photographer, and you get more photos during this special time in your life!

I have all of my couples fill out an introduction survey after they book me for their wedding, so I can get to know them better and serve them in the best way that I know how! This is what Taylor and Tayson had to say:

How did you two meet?

We met in college at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. We lived in the same dorm and had chemistry class together. On the first day of class, we sat next to each other and eventually started walking to and from class together. We learned that we were both from the PNW and had a lot of similar interests. We started dating a couple months later and have been together ever since!

How did you know they were the one?

Tayson: She always made me smile and nothing ever felt forced. Just loved spending time with her, used to look forward to my least favorite class every week just to get to spend a couple minutes walking with her.

Taylor: I knew he was the one when we started talking about music artists we liked. He said his favorite Pearl Jam song was Yellow Ledbetter which is mine too! I texted my mom that very night about it lol. He was a piece of home for me when I was so far away from loved ones.

Tell me the story of the proposal!

Tayson: I took her to the new Seattle waterfront Friday after work. I proposed in front of the water and the Ferris wheel. I tried my best for it to be a surprise, but she definitely knew what was happening and was nice enough to pretend that she didn’t until after. We had nice dinner reservations after and then went to see the Christmas light show at the stadium. Then we met up with our friends for drinks.

How did you choose when and/or where you're getting married?

We both wanted a venue with plenty of indoor space since Seattle weather is unpredictable. We toured a few places and nothing felt right. Tayson golfs at Echo Falls a lot, and mentioned they have a nice clubhouse with beautiful views. It ended up being perfect for us. May seemed like a good time of year to hopefully get a little sun.

What are you most excited about when it comes to your wedding photography?

We’re excited to have these pictures to look back on forever and to be able to hang them in our home!
